Autumn leaves crayon rubbings and paper cuts. Adult art class student display, 10/21/19

What fun to make our own leaves!

Color a paper in a riot of colors and ways.
Cut out several general leaf shapes from another paper. Try freehand cutting. Keep the background piece too.
Attach this background cutaway sheet to the colored sheet. You can make a black sheet too for this!
With the leaf papercuts make an arrangement on a blank sheet. Trace around the arrangement.
Place a clean sheet on the arrangement and make a crayon rubbing.
Color your tracing page as you want.
Make a list of some more ideas and variations for this.
You can also use real leaves, as you see here
The leaf shapes are also like trees in a scene themselves.

Fall leaves and scenes - children’s drawing class display, 10/01/19

Without real leaves we drew some make be'leaf's. Then made freehand leaf cutouts for a crayon rubbing drawing. We also used the cutouts to trace and color.

Apple picking - Children’s drawing class. 8/24/19

Apple picking - children’s drawing class lesson, 9/24/19

We started with a border so we could warm up and have a frame in the process. We drew the tree in a continuous line - a bit like writing pretend script. It gives practice in keeping the drawing tool moving. If you draw in short little hesitant strokes, you will never learn to hit your mark. Here those loops give lots of apples to color. Drawing took quite a while. We have pics of the line drawing and the colored version.
