'Patchwork' designs loosely inspired for Native American Month, paperfolds and coloring, adult art class, 11/26/18

We folded two sheets of copy paper after we had pulled the biggest possible square from them. One sheet we folded to have equal perpendicular boxes and diagonals. The other sheet was to just be 8x8 boxes.

We used the folds as frameworks to create color patterns with. We were to do the diagonals sheet with two random Ely selected colors. The 8x8 we could use 3 colors, (random selection I think). Looks like some people created extra textures and patterns. I was just thinking in terms of straight colors. Half the fun is seeing how differently people hear or interpret things/words/messages....etc!

Friday after, (Tday), digital drawings, 'sig' and live/touch, 11/23/18

Little Phone screen does not register stylus strokes moving from out to in, but at least registers from in to out. I'm not used to writing or drawing that way. I expect to be able to make marks whichever way I move my tool/hand....all this stuff starts out so promising but then so quickly loses its capabilities. All flash in the pan and smoke n mirrors?!

Porcupine drawings, 11/17/18, black crayon coloring page, and digital 'touch' phone drawing

Porcupines have up to 30,000 quills - who counted? They don't 'shoot' their quills. A family is called a 'prickle'. Babies are 'porcupettes'. Good info on the San Diego Zoo site: https://animals.sandiegozoo.org/animals/porcupine

Numbats! Black crayon drawing coloring page and digi live/touch message drawings, 11/14/18

A group of MNOPQRS animals had me wondering about animals starting with N. I could only think of Nuthatch and that Nnnuu...? What was it called? ...(Nutria.) Found the Numbat for one. An Australian endangered species - looks a bit like a long squirrel or chipmunk.  They are marsupial and it seems they eat only termites. I drew from a photo by Stewart MacDonald - http://www.stewartmacdonald.com.au/blog/2008/01/numbat-alert/

Zebra drawings: black crayon coloring page, digi live/touch, mini 'signature' , 11/13/18

I think this may work into an A-Z animal series. In order to avoid overwhelm, I start with one set of four animals. The alphabet divided into four groups of six or more animals. Any letter animal in each group. Black crayon coloring pages, and the digital live/touch drawings, (which end up like neon signs).

Stovetop veggie handpie invention, 11/12/18 - CK

Stovetop veggie handpie invention, 11/12/18 - CK

Description:
(Note - text between slashes is dictation nonsense showing my repeated efforts to get dictation writing what I want!)
11:22 AM Weird handpie breakfast is cooking on the stove top.
The Dough - flour, cornmeal, rolled old-fashioned oats, /big in batter salt letter water Bacon powder/(dictation nonsense/
baking powder
butter
water.
/Rolled out in two balls
Dividing to divide in to divide into balls for crying out loud/
Divide into two balls
Roll out one and form a little edge all around
Add the filling
Filling:
Peas, corn, spinach, onions (all frozen veggies)
seasoned with: /so I thought so I sauce/
soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, cornmeal
Pat out the other ball of dough and cover the tart/hand pie. Crimp it closed. /Brakes and air holes./
Prick some air holes with a fork - you can make it into a pattern
This handpie is just a single serving I had put butter onto the tinfoil before spreading the bottom crust
I put this to cooking in the cast-iron frying pan placing the concoction in with the foil sheet that was on the tinfoil, into a commercial aluminum pie plate, tented with a piece of tinfoil and covered. This started cooking at 11:15 AM til
c. Noon

Excellent crust, browned underneath but no burn. Filling needed more soy sauce/salt and sour, lemon/vinegar, or mustard,

Bear & fish digital drawing, and black crayon coloring page, 11/12/18

Bears today
Go out to play.
Instead they fish,
With a bit of a swish,
A hope and a wish,
That the catch will not swim away!

Veterans Day Wishes, 11/11/18

 Veterans Day 11/11/18
It is hard to wish this day as 'Happy' Veterans Day. A Thank you Veterans Day instead. May we always remember, in the wish that one day we can truly put down arms.

Antelope, black crayon line drawing coloring page and live/touch digital drawing, 11/11/18

A is for antelope
Who runs with the hope,
And a wide wide scope
To seize every slope
With rarely a mope,
Best cover the land in one fell swope!

Corn tortillas and green tomatoes breakfast experiment, 11/10/18

10 AM cat is out, breakfast is cooking
Three corn tortillas stacked and topped with butter pats, squiggles of /catch-up catch up, catch up, catchup and mustard, mustard and catch up, cats up and mustard, Hines catch up/ (dictation problems)
ketchup, Green cherry tomatoes cut, frozen chopped onions. Cooking on the cast iron frying pan covered with aluminum tent and cover. An experiment
Hope to take a picture of it when it finishes!
Roads are wet out but I don't think it's raining.
10:51 am- the breakfast dish finished cooking. I made a paper cut to take a picture of the finished dish. We'll see how it tastes!

Lion head, digital live/touch drawing, 11/10/18, and black crayon drawing coloring page.

Made a crayon drawing earlier too. And after writing about a dream and scratching that out, I wanted to add a photo of the crayon drawing. This 'email' does not seem to offer a camera function from within a message, but one can attach.

So I stopped to take a pic of the crayon drawing, did a bit of adjusting and sent it off to convert to high contrast image, (good for coloring page). Now that feels satisfying!

Morning Eats Cat, digital touch/live drawing, 11/9/18, and a pumpkin spinach soup dinner!

It's a beautiful sunny day today. The cat has jam for its bread, I had cheese on my toasted bread.

Yesterday I fleetingly came across a suggestion of a squash and kale soup perhaps, what seemed like such an unlikely combination. It gave me the idea I could use my long overdue can of pumpkin to make a soup. I searched for that mention of the odd combination but could not find what I'd seen.

I would make a pumpkin soup though. Some canned pumpkin, cinnamon, chicken bouillon, Dijon mustard, bottled lemon juice, butter, frozen chopped onions, frozen sweet corn, ramen noodles, water. This would just make one large bowlful, (serving).

I got wondering about that spinach. Could that really be possible? I searched for pumpkin/squash spinach/kale recipes. There were loads of them. So I added frozen spinach AND some sugar. Let this simmer a bit - perhaps 5 minutes after having added the spinach.

What a delicious soup. I tried eating only half the bowl/serving but went past that. Then I did not get it into the fridge away from me in time. It was not long before I ate the rest of it!

Deer drawings and exercises, art displays, kids' and adults' drawing classes, 11/5-6/19

We did some crazy exercises first, in both classes. Students made up arrangements of given numbers of
a) crisscross perpendicular lines
b) crisscross diagonal lines
c) overlapping triangles and/or rectangles
d) crisscross arcs
Once these were drawn, one is to invent or find a creature in each set. Color as you go. Mark some eyes to help creaturize,

Then a page of Ken Hultgren art as reference for drawing deer. Hopefully you can see the connection between arc inventions and his drawings.

New Day Cat, digital touch drawing, 11/8/18

This cat is wondering what to paint or draw. Much as I am - in the space of the few minutes allotted for these touch drawings. If you could see it taking place, it might make more sense! Maybe you can make out something in this scribbling.

Bird Draw was a separate test for a group imessage. A bit more legible!

Coffee cat, live digi drawing, 11/7/18

I'm seeing double when I draw these on the little phone screen. I still like doing them because it is fun to watch them as animations as they draw themselves out. Like watching the keys of a player piano as it plays.

Election Day Cat, digital phone drawing, 11/6/18

The
I'm on the fence about this day, but it gives a subject for drawing! Some more ideas:

Collecting signatures for petitions
Studying the issues
Standing on line
Chatting ? Issues while waiting
Candidates greeting
Sign holders
Overseeing the ballot box
The ballot box
Voting booth
Receiving a ballot
Feeling of having voted
Waiting for results
News reporting
Tallying the votes
Winners and acceptances
Clearing lawn signs

Monday scribble cat, digital touch drawing, 11/5/18

You can hardly see him here - I was so bleary eyed and flustered about the unreliability of this technology. It works properly just often enough to keep us coming back for more. What ratio do we need for that? 50/50? Its is called intermittent reward or something like that. I bet our thresholds go even lower than that.

Cat with birds, live digital phone drawing, 11/4/18

I still want to find out how much time this app allows for completion. I usually don't get to finish before it just stops letting me draw!

I may have figured out how to prevent that dumb fireball feature that keeps getting sent by accident. Choose a color and press until the color wheel shows. Pick a shade. Should put you right into drawing instead of a premature fireball send!

Apples and grilled cheddar cheese open faced sandwich, 11/2/18

Empire apples in this case, thinly sliced. I could not cook it long
enough for the apples to really cook. The underside was ready to leave
the heat. And, it needed just a bit more cheese. This kind of apple is
wonderful cold. I think this needs a tarter apple - like a mac, macoun,
or cortland. But I was only wanting a substitute for tomato at the
moment. Dare I try a bit of salt on the apple, the half sandwich that is
left?

Dia de los muertes, finger drawing, 11/2/18. Ck credit line added

Dia de los muertes - day of the Dead. Goes from Halloween to 11/2.
Finger has so little control drawing on a tiny phone touch screen. Face
features are really slipping here!

Halloween drawings from kids' art class, (child and adult display), 10/30/18

We drew haunted houses, bats, candy, witches, goblins, pumpkins, and
more! One is drawn with the assistance of 'Sheepie', from Minecraft.

Day of the dead touch drawing, 11/1/18

A skeleton for the Day of the Dead, November 1, 2018! May just look like a mishmash if you don't see it taking place life!
