Happy New Year’s coloring page. 12/27/20

Happy New Year's coloring page. 12/27/20
Hats, fireworks, New Years Babe and old Father Time!
Ring in the New Year!
It is up to us what we make of it. That is the creative challenge in any mess!

.....I actually recorded the act of drawing of this, but now I'm chicken about editing it.
I don't trust that anything I clip off will still be there somewhere. So for now you just get the drawing I ended up with!

Still life’s, fantasies, and landscapes. Sip & Sketch Session # 37, 12/25/20, Christmas

Still life's, fantasies and landscapes. Sip & Sketch Session # 37, 12/25/20, Christmas
I started here by writing an out of order list of the images. I over imagined, looking for ages for a fantasy castle I thought we'd drawn!
And then I put the list in proper sequence.
I had missed the first two images, having come late to class...
I drew these in my tablet’s notes, with an ipencil, slip sliding all over...
  1. Big urn with Xmas lights still life
  2. Still life - big round vase w branches of pink blossoms
  3. Northern lights over fjord in Iceland
  4. Stag w huge branches as antlers
  5. Chicken with crazy head plumes
  6. Gingerbread castle
  7. #9 Three chubby male dance figures, 9a,b,c

Sip & Sketch session #37, hosted by theater costume and set designers, Lisa Jordan and Cindi Taylor,

Thank you so much for making these sessions possible.

They curate a set of images for each session. Participants draw each selection at varying 'pose' lengths - until the timer rings. Then most participants show their drawings briefly for a group screen shot in 'gallery ' view.

My friend, Shelley Christou,  sent me pics of the decor she put up for the season. I think she did it yesterday. I put the pics here because I always have storage issues with my phones.

Christmas Angel - Let Peace and Joy Reign, 12/24/20. Digital drawing and poem

Christmas Angel - Let Peace and Joy Reign, 12/24/20

Let Peace and Joy Reign

Over earth it may wane
That we be of one vein.
Our tears may so pain
As to wear a long chain
We may let the light strain
But always our great gain
When we sing the refrain
Which in our hearts remain

Quokkas - Also called qualkies adorable marsupials in Australia. Friendly. People go to have selfies with them. They are related to kangaroos and wallabies. They live on an island called Rottsnest. Dutch for ratsnest. The Dutch discovered  this island way back when and named it so for the Quokkas, which they thought were rats.

The primate is a Mandrill, similar to a baboon. It appears to be painted but that is how they are made!

The dancer wearing a crown of roses, reminds me of a Caravaggio subject.

Rembrandt, Durer, and Callot  figures; street scenes, abstract nature formation photos - some of the subjects from virtual sketch session, 12/14/20

These are my drawings from the session. I’ve been drawing these on the iPad mini using the iPencil. It’s handy and the black is black. But not really better or easier than physical media. It gives certain constraints to deal with, that I don’t see as worthwhile skills to be developing, the iPencil is a much better drawing tool than a ‘stylus’. There’s no really good solution yet. Technology just is not there yet. And most tablet users are not people who do lots of writing or drawing. So, I don’t have much faith this will be developed into a real useful working function.

I’ve been drawing these in ‘Notes’. I try to start a new strip perhaps every 4-5 images. If I were to cut these up into separate images, would they be about the same resolutions as if they had been

drawn as single images? Have yet to test that.

Many thanks to Liz for making this happen.

St. Nicholas Day - Cat and Pig set out shoes, phone drawings, 12/6/20

St. Nicholas Day - Cat and Pig set out shoes, phone drawings, 12/6/20

...and they have plenty of apples. I’ve seen some shoes with carrots? - aahh, the kids put them out for St. Nick’ps steed, be it donkey, horse, or reindeer. St. Nick puts candy into the shoes. And I thought it was package delivery that brought me my order of chocolates yesterday - right thru the letter slot out of the incoming northwest winds storm’s way. But the package was too big for the letter slot. Someone actually put it inside my door!
