Sports figures & penguins - student art, adult drawing class, 1/12/15. Exercises & drawings.

Sports figures & penguins - student art, adult drawing class, 1/12/15.
Exercises A) take a quarter sheet of paper. Color it with black crayon. Cut out circles the size of quarters freehand. Cut out at least eight teardrop shapes in about two sizes. Arrange a circle shape and four teardrop shapes to create a figure on a quarter sheet of paper. Draw that figure on another quarter piece of paper. Do this by coloring in without using outlines. B) On a half sheet of paper arrange two figures with these pre-cut shapes. Draw this arrangement on a separate half sheet of paper. Keep using the coloring in with no outlines method.
C) On a quarter sheet arrange a circle and four teardrops to be something like a sports figure. Recreate it in drawing on a separate quarter sheet of paper. Keep using the color in without outlines method. D) try an arrangement of two sports figures using the pre-cut shapes on a half sheet of paper. Re-create the arrangement on a separate half sheet of paper using the coloring in method with no outlines.
Final practice: try for an abstracted penguin-like creature using these shapes but going for the drawing right off the bat, coloring it in, no outlines.
Final drawing: draw a penguin or a group of penguins, from reference pictures, abstracting where you can. Use what you got from the practice, but do as you wish!
