New phone, and Halloween themed drawings from online zoom session, 10/30/20

New phone and Halloween themed drawings from online zoom session, 10/30/20

Sip n Sketch session #29(?), hosted by theater costume and set designers, Lisa Jordan and Cindi Taylor,

Thank you so much for making these sessions possible.

They curate a set of images for each session. Participants draw each selection at varying ‘pose’ lengths - until the timer rings. The most participants show their drawings briefly for a group screen shot in ‘gallery ‘ view.

My drawings are out of order, but their chronological order  number Is on each drawing.

Trying to reset wifi modem and router as per suggestion...

Well I tried last night. Not sure I did it right. Still barely even crawling. My oldest phone is on the decent data plan, but YouTube does not like the old browser it has. And I don’t have room to put in updated browser. So no youtube. I attended the zoom drawing class with that old phone tho! Amazing because that’s so small - seeing both the image on the screen share and whomever was on the current talking screen. I was again too late because of all the hoops I was going through to find a way in to the session. So instead of paper and crayon, I did the whole session on iPad w ipencil.

During all this I was also trying to get my new phone hooked up. It had just come.  It’s not hooking up well tho because of this internet crawl.

I think it’s crawling because of all the last minute phone banking etc that is going on.

Halfway thru class, someone’s phone dinged. I went thru mine looking for what it might be and lost my zoom in the process. Had to go back and find the email w the link and rejoin the session. I still don’t know what the warnings and messages are saying they are so ambiguous in meaning. I just bang away and hope for the best. But you can’t learn that way because you don’t know how you got there. There is no meaningful connection between action and result. My fingers don’t have enough circulation so it’s hit or miss if my taps connect with what is beneath the glass. I wish they had an iPencil for the phone. It’s much better on iPad to use the iPencil. I got it for drawing on iPads, but it’s much better on the virtual keypad too.

New iPhone (SE) - almost same body n feel as the 6S. I was hoping it would be smaller and have the sharper bezel. But I guess that is with the mini. Can’t try anything on it yet because all the updating/downloading is still happening. ...I got the red one. Not the kind of red I expected. In color yes - fire engine/Marlboro red, but not metallic. The edge all round is metallic red. The face is black. Gold would have been  good. Red and black is vampirish. I don’t like that  against red. Do not like a black screen either. Oh well.

Because I’m copying from my 6s, it has the same screen wallpaper image, an abstract section from one of  my watercolors. So I’ll never know where I am!

Duh - I thought it might be something like this ...I went to pay my overdue internet wifi bill. Found out my service had been suspended. I paid just now. Supposedly it could take up to 24 hours to get back on. But I think it got turned right back on!!! I just don’t understand how I was getting on internet even just a little bit.

And, yes internet n WiFi all working - that was what the problem had been! YouTube is so cute on the phone. Great to know one can participate  in a drawing zoom session in the tiny scale of a phone. Adorable!

October themed sketch session drawings from sip ‘n sketch # 27, on 10/16/20

My drawings from online zoom sketch class session #27, hosted by Lisa Jordan and Cindi Taylor, on 10/16/20. Some spooky and quirky topics.

The host curates a set of images for us to draw from - as if they were models in a figure drawing class. ‘Poses’ stay up for predetermined times of increasing lengths. A timer rings when the image’s time is up. Those who choose to, share their work after each image for a group screen shot

I’ve been doing my drawings using a black Crayola crayon, and sometimes some color.

Spooky themed images - my drawings from Sip & Sketch session #26, 10/9/20

Weird carved pumpkins, marionette dancers, Navitas art, close up florals - maybe you can see the water droplets, a skelly  playing guitar, cat in a witch hat, bird house apartments, crazy old typewriter with an octopus, my drawings from Sip & Sketch session #26, 10/9/20, weekly online zoom event hosted by Lisa Jordan and Cindi Taylor. The host presents the series of curated images. Participants draw the images until the timer goes off. They start with short 3 minute ‘poses’, and get longer up to 20 minutes. After each drawing, people show/share their work if they choose.

I’ve been doing my drawings in crayon, mostly black.

Draw, Doodle Sketch Virtual Session, #26, 10/5/20

Draw, Doodle Sketch   Virtual Session, #26, 10/5/20

The host, LizPopiel,  has curated a set of images, (whether photos or art), for us to draw that session. They start with short times,3 min.) ,set to a timer, and continue to longer ‘Poses’, c. 20 min, as if they were models posing. Participants hold up their work, if willing, between each image. This is all done over Zoom.

These are my drawings from the session. I keep using a black Crayola crayon. Only because when I was drawing with students in my own classes, I needed something dark enough to be seen. It turned out to make better coloring pages. I don’t particularly like it tho. The new little box of just black Crayola  crayons does not seem to be as dark a black. Say it is not so. I’m sure there are loads of black Crayola crayon stubs rolling around here!

I did leave this session early because I was having such a hard time concentrating.

Many thanks to the host, Liz Popiel, for making this happen.

Sip & Sketch online drawing sessions #24, 9/25/20

Here are the drawings I did last Friday night at the ‘Sip & Sketch’  online  drawing Zoom sessions #24, 9/25/20, hosted by Lisa Jordan, a costume designer and educator.

It isn’t really a class with a ‘teacher’. It’s a session or activity.  It is free. Host puts up the image and we draw for however long the timer is on for. Then participants all hold up their drawings and the host takes a screen shot. It’s held via zoom. The Friday session is two hours 7-9 pm.

October children’s drawing programs, 2020

This is the October 2020 kids’ class schedule that would have been:

10/06   Autumn leaves and trees

10/13   Pumpkin patches and scarecrows

10/20   Owls and bats and cats

10/27   Spooky Halloween with Jack-O-Lanterns, haunted houses, witches, goblins, and more.

You can download these demonstration drawings to print out. Draw your own October and Halloween scenes from these and/or use them to color!

Presidential Debate #1, 9/29/20

The debates: I had no intention of paying attention. It was on the radio. I listened to npr news reporters as they waited. And then it started. Before I could turn it off, it got so ridiculous that it was funny. I kept listening just to hear where their voices and tone would take them. People just don’t get it. Wallace was such a bad moderator. You can’t get swept up in an argument w a kid, which is what it was. He had no idea how to stop T. People in these positions are always testing boundaries and pecking orders. This is tv - it’s theater. It’s live. People tune in to see what might happen. T is a master of keeping his audience. I think he made his position stronger. Many People want The person who is in charge. In this case it was him. And that was only because Wallace let go of his chance to be in charge.

Biden Has a good resonant voice but kept whining whatever he was pitching.
I blame Wallace for not being up to the job. The venue I guess for selecting him
as moderator. Where have all these news people been all this time for not expecting such a debacle?

And now, the perception is that W was favoring B, ie biased.
